The concentric circles visible from the cut trunks form the most dense bed from the solid wood, they are chosen for their qualities of solidity, stability and longevity. A groove is then hand carved into the wood. The first layer of logs are cut in this manner in order that they sit precisely on their insulated foundations. The following layers are placed one upon the other, a bed of mineral cotton is then blown into the grove in effect sealing all cracks.
